Without Ana’s entrepreneurial spirit and fortitude TriggerPoint Yoga may have never come into existence. Ana was lead to create this style of Yoga out of her own experience with a tight calf muscle. After performing Julie’s (see bio below) muscular release techniques Ana realized how beneficial the combination of muscle release before stretching could be for herself and her yoga students.
Her intention with TriggerPoint Yoga is to support people in experiencing freedom, ease and mobility in their bodies no matter what their age. Ana’s passions extend beyond Yoga; she’s an avid cyclist with her husband, enjoys the outdoors and thrives on living her life to the fullest.
Julie has practiced as a Deep Muscle Massage Therapist since 1989, specializing in the treatment of chronic joint pain and sports injuries. She has worked extensively with elite athletes and patients who have been unsuccessful at finding relief through the more conventional therapies.
She has been widely published, both on- and off-line, in magazines, newsletters, and newspapers around the country. She is also often chosen to speak at national conventions, medical schools, and health facilities nationwide.
Her training began as a massage therapist, licensed in the State of New York where the initial requirement was 650 hours of classroom study in topics such as Anatomy & Physiology, Kinesiology, Pathology of Muscles, Medical Massage, and Eastern Theory. She has spent hundreds of hours focusing on an understanding of why muscles cause pain that may be far removed from the actual source of the problem, and why conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome exist.
Julie’s diverse exposure widened the scope of her practice far beyond spa massage and was the solid foundation of everything she does now. Unlike relaxing massage which has its own benefits, her work focuses on the deep muscles that hold joints bound, preventing full range-of-motion and causing chronic joint pain.
From her work with endurance athletes, serious local athletes, and people who were suffering from a wide assortment of chronic joint pains, the Julstro techniques of self-treatment developed. Expanding her teaching with the addition of the self-treatment concept really started to separate her from the majority of her peers. She found that as she began to teach people how to help themselves, they could continue their therapy outside of their sessions with her. It was (and is) wonderful to watch people begin to get permanent relief from pain. Visit Julstro: www.julstro.com
JoAnne has some really good karma because she was asked by the founders and creators of TriggerPoint Yoga (TPY) to join the team to help spread the word! When TPY launched their DVD she tried to be the first one to purchase the full body kit but some other guy beat her to it! She was pregnant at the time so she was moving a bit slower!
Even though JoAnne has been married since 1997, she and her husband, Dan, just started their family in July 2013. They welcomed a little baby boy soul to the planet and they call him Carson. I’m sure when she blogs and communicates with our subscribers she will talk about him a lot (she’s kinda obsessed with him) so you’ll get to know him too.
JoAnne does come with Yoga credentials. She was certified at the 500-hour level in 2005 by Chandra Om, one of the top authentic Yoga Teachers in the United States. JoAnne has taught classes and private sessions for gentle yoga and vinyasa yoga and is super excited about teaching TriggerPoint Yoga face-to-face!
A lot of folks would describe JoAnne as one of the most positive people they know. Her positive nature lead her to life coaching in 2009. Since then she has coached people into living their life to the fullest by aligning with their inherent gifts, talents and passions.
JoAnne is our go-to gal here at TPY so feel free to give her a shout out at email@example.com.
